Frequently asked questions

How do I store it?

Keep the tin closed in a cool, dry place. The balm softens with warmth and sets firm when cool — both are normal and do not affect the balm.

Who makes them?

The Kawakawa Collective is a group of Māori makers. Each jar is made, finished and named by the individual maker who gathered the leaf and blended the balm.

How do I use the balm?

Warm a little between your fingers and smooth it over dry or rough skin. Use as often as you like — it is a gentle, everyday balm, not a treatment.

What is in it?

Kawakawa leaf, beeswax and natural plant oils. We keep the ingredients simple and list them on every tin, and each batch is made in small quantities by hand.

Are these balms a medicine?

No. They are botanical skincare — a balm made with kawakawa leaf, beeswax and natural oils. They are not a medicine and are not intended to address any condition.

What is kawakawa?

Kawakawa is a native New Zealand plant with heart-shaped, often nibbled leaves. It has a long and central place in rongoā, the traditional Māori system of wellbeing, and we use the leaf in our balms to honour that tradition.
